The latest version of the Avensis shows how far Toyota have come in a fiercely competitive segment. The challenge is to compete with other mainstream rivals as well as the likes of the Audi A4 and the BMW 3 Series. This looks much better than the previous one with the front end tweaked and there is a stronger look to the car overall. There’s a lot of space in the cabin and it can manage to take five on board. No worries about the boot – there is plenty of room. Seats can be folded to increase the load space. The design of the cabin has also improved greatly and there’s a high level of standard spec. The seats are comfortable, and the trims and materials used feel much better. They’re also just as robust and hard wearing as the previous model. The Avensis has never disappointed on the road, and this model is no exception. It handles well with solid feedback from the steering and gear change is easy and smooth. You feel safe and sound behind the wheel. Road and wind noise are at a minimum.
