Nissan Micra (10 - present)

This has such a loyal following among Irish buyers that Nissan say people just move from one Micra to the next without ever thinking of going elsewhere. It has one of the best reputations for cars of its class. They always sell well and have good residual values. One of the main reasons for this is value for money. They don’t cost a fortune to buy new or used and are relatively inexpensive to run. They are renowned for being reliable, and are easy to drive. This also makes them quite popular amongst learner drivers. The latest Micra gets some subtle changes to its appearance inside and out but it remains as practical as ever, with plenty of cabin and boot space, folding rear seats, and several storage cubbies throughout. There’s a fair level of standard kit and safety features. On the road, it behaves just like the Micras of old with the addition of much smoother ride quality and positive gear change. The handling is nice and easy and the driving position is excellent. The 1.2 litre petrol engine is economical and surpisingly peppy. Perfect for pottering about town.
